...of his/her work...
So I got my little greedy bookwormish hands on Laurel K Hamilton book named The Harlequin. All the lines bout how it is super duper were ignored (i learned my lesson with them), but when i began to read the torture began. I rolled my eyes so much....at every little thing.
Points that made me headdesk every time:
*all the description of her lovers (yep, more than 1, she has ... ehm, trying to count, 5 or so regular and 3 or so not so regular...), she described every thing about them, so i began to skip it.
*there was sex, okey, but there was TALK about sex. Main heroine will meet with potentional lover (she is succubus, without sex for more than 2 hrs it will be hell, for her and for the readers as well, cos she LOVES to talk ...) and then the real hell begins - why havent we have sex, when we will have it... blahblahblah. Her **** is the saviour of the world. *headdesk*. It is not fun to read about it, say ... 3times. It reallyyy borred me.
*super powers. Yes, she has them. Yes, she use them. Yes, she and her love (maybe its lust) will save everyone. She is the SAVIOUR. *headdesk* She is so super that Superman can retire now.
*I loved the political machinations in the vamp or were com. That was so... fun to read. Mostly I got the eyeroll on Anita thoughts on leader on werelion pack, he DIDNT want to sleep with her... omg, he is crazy, he doesnt want to sleep with her... such man couldnt really exist in this universe...!!! Kill him, bann him!
*1st POV was not the best choice. Cos Anita loves to talk, to describe, to loose herself in her own talk and emotions. 1eyeroll for too much informations I didnt really need and that didnt really make her world likeable and belieable.
... when everyone talked that her first books were better, so I was stupid enough to belive them and read the first one... omfg. Thank God, no talk abour her sex, but what made me eyeroll was her SUPERvampKILLER attitude - but most time she run and screamed ... *cough* ... Dear Anita is NOT likeable chara. You cant love her. She bitchs about everything, makes quasy clever remarks...
and you can found out that the happy goody gooody father to 2 orphans in The Harlequin, is here described like psycho killer. So every killer is sweet sweet loving father... good to know in which world we live.
NEVER again, and I am happy that I didnt spend my money for THIS.
(The last information I found out which lost me my interest in Anita Blake and her autor. ->Cos when you have 4 short story collection of known universes like JDROBB Dallas universe and you find out that LKH used her 6 chapter from book... that is really cheap.)
